			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One successful corporate executive recently stated to me; “I do not need my people to give me a weather report; I need them to tell me how we can make umbrellas”. Inside the corporate cultural for many years people that reach high level position in many organizations, carry with them the privilege and the entitlement that comes with it.  Part of the trend we seeing the market is that many organization had the realization that are truly, “Top Heavy”. We see more and more high level position being eliminated daily.</p>
<p><span id="more-2296"></span></p>
<p>My notion is that it relates to the above statement. With today’s advance technological capabilities and ability, companies are of a less need of layers of people to transfer and carry information internally from one level to another and attend endless number of weekly meeting.</p>
<p>In today’s world we assert the following:</p>
<p>An executive personal knowledge has valuable only if you can translate it to one’s ability to produce daily result.</p>
<p>Your organization senior leadership is not that interested in your opinions (Everyone has one), rather in your actions.</p>
<p>The statement; “Huston we have a problem” do not belong in today’s management world. “Huston we HAD a problem” is what is being wanted.</p>
<p>Tell your management what CAN we do and not what we CAN’T do.</p>
<p>When you give a report make sure that it is reporting on how you solved the problem and not what is the “problem”.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that many seasoned executives are being replaced with young people that are creative, inventive and resourceful.  I have learned that for many industries, a career management today is being measured on a quarterly basis, what a life?</p>
<p>My daughter that is 21 year old, decided to take a semester in Melbourne University, Australia that is. In a matter of few days, she complete the application had a place to stay a job offering and a car to drive and she did it all on her Blackberry without leaving the house.</p>
<h3>Watch out she is coming to Corporate America and she is after your job!</h3>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In many conversations I have had in recent months with various business leaders, I have noticed an undiagnosed “symptom” that I would like to highlight.  That “things will all turn out; we just need to be patient”.  Or for some of you, the old adage” ignorance is bliss” methodology.</p>
<p><span id="more-2448"></span></p>
<p>This crisis my friend is very different than anything we experienced before.  It is distinctly different in the following ways (at least in my humble opinion):</p>
<p><strong>It is global</strong> &#8211; Stop listening to your local news. Get your head out of the sand and listen to the national or international news.  It will give you a broader and wider perspective.  You may hear that which you do not want to, but in some instances you might just capture some good news.</p>
<p><strong>It is fundamental</strong> &#8211; This time it is not just on the surface, it is at the core. It is questioning our way of life not just our actions and our financial system.</p>
<p><strong>It is evolutionary</strong> &#8211; Resiliency, as important as it is, is not necessarily the answer this time around.  Innovation, creativity, inventiveness and evolution, might be.   I’m not sure your banker, your CEO and especially not the government knows what will come next.   The truth is though, that if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. It is not your attitude (positive philosophy that is) that needs to change; it is your fundamental operating habits.  It is what you do. Now.</p>
<p><strong>It is social more than it is business</strong> &#8211; It is a radical shift from organizing and designing to serve the needs of the stakeholders to organizing and designing business to serve society.</p>
<p><strong>It is here to stay</strong> – This shall not pass. There is no way for us to go backwards to what is comfortable and familiar; it is the nature of evolution.</p>
<p>It is not a financial crisis; it is socially economical in nature. The financial aspect is the outcome. It is a fundamental shift in our way of life more than in the ways in which we spend, invest our money and manage our businesses. Consumer confidence is at an all time low, not because of the credit crunch, but because people lost confidence in themselves. (If you are so bold as to tell the truth). If you want to hide your head in the sand, go ahead.</p>
<p><strong>Don’t complain that you are being hit from the behind!</strong></p>
<p>My grandfather’s generation had a very practical solution; “make sure you sell your products and services for more then you paid for them and do not spend more then you are making” – to simple for complicated minds, I say.</p>
<p>It is not a financial issue it is a common sense issue. You ether listen to the so called “experts “and yes everyone is an expert today (You know the same expert that go you into this mess is now telling you how to get out of it) or to basic human common sense.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the most obvious observations I have made in the last 10 years and more significantly in recent crisis, is that nothing is constant. Many corporations were caught unprepared to deal with sharp changes in the market place.</p>
<p>For many, many years the approach “if it is not broken, does not fix” were a leading approach in the business world. I say on the contrary, in today’s world the more appropriate approach is “If it isn’t broken,<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> do</span> fix it” is more apropos than ever.</p>
<p><span id="more-2287"></span></p>
<p>Complacency is the prime “killer” of innovation, progression and organizations ability to move forward. It is also being said before “if you do not move forward, you are moving backwards” it is more accurate to say today. “If you do not move forward, you move out”. (Out of business that is).</p>
<p>In the fast pace of today’s business world, you are as good as yesterday results. The ability of any organization to bank on their success, it a matter of quarters, weeks, and in some cases, days.  It is OK to “feel” comfortable and or celebrate your successes for a moment, yet do not let it getting to your head too much, you competitors already strategizing on how to beat you in your own game.</p>
<p>They are using the same channels of outreach, facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and such others and they are talking to your costumers as well, they uncover and capitalize on your company’s weaknesses sometimes before even you do.</p>
<p>I have discussed this with an executive in a fortune 100 company; he describes this phenomenon as being fearful and in the same time do to not develop “paranoia”.  As we have describe is in the SEAL training is the ability to be Intense and relaxed in the same time. Do not loss you edge and never panic.</p>
<h4>Here is the bottom line: in today’s marketplace, complacency is a death warrant!</h4>
